Duties Description The New York State Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) provides operational support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year, supporting more than 4,900 applications for 53 New York State Agencies.The Information Technology Architect 1 (Enterprise) will be responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of technical solutions that meet business needs while adhering to all policies and standards. The position will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, architect solutions, and ensure successful delivery.Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:- Design, develop, and maintain technical solutions that address business requirements and align with architecture principles and standards. Develop solution architectures, technical specifications, and system designs.- Design and manage solutions throughout the development lifecycle. - Evaluate, identify, and develop technical solutions based on business requirements, considering factors such as scalability, performance, security, and usability.- Lead evaluation orojects and provide recommendations for technology adoption.- Identify and document technical risks and propose mitigation strategies to address them.- Plan, track, and schedule enterprise project deliverables.- Collaborate with development teams to ensure that technical solutions are implemented according to design specifications.

Minimum Qualifications EMPLOYMENT:- Six (6) years of broad information technology (IT) experience, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of software coding and programming languages, and its application within large-scale organizations.- Four (4) years of specialized experience in enterprise architecture, software development, or a related technical role.SUBSTITUTIONS:- Associate's degree with 15 semester credit hours in computer science or a related field substitutes for one year of general information technology experience. - Candidates in a bachelor's degree program with at least 15 semester credit hours in computer science or a related field can substitute for one year of general information technology experience. - Bachelor's degree in any field including or supplemented by fifteen (15) semester credit hours in computer science or a related field substitutes for three years substitutes for three (3) years of general information technology experience. - Bachelor's degree in any field substitutes for two (2) years of general information technology experience. - Master's degree or higher in computer science or related field substitutes for one year of general information technology experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Strong technical background with expertise in multiple technology domains, such as cloud computing, microservices architecture, databases, and integration technologies.- Broad understanding of coding and programming languages, including SQL, Python, Java, JavaScript, Scala, C/C++, Ruby, Rust, Go, COBOL, etc.- Experience with database design and data modeling, utilizing tools such as Unified Modeling Language (ULM).- Extensive knowledge of the software development process and corresponding technologies, such as Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD.- Excellent understanding of design patterns and architectural styles.- Expertise with content management systems such as WordPress, Drupal, Squarespace, Joomla, Shopify, Adobe Experience Manager, etc.- Good understanding of integration patterns and technologies, including but not limited to enterprise service bus (ESB) platforms and middleware solutions.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly understand and address technical challenges.- Knowledge of security, compliance, and regulatory requirements relevant to technical solution design.- Experience working in cross-functional teams and leading technical discussions and decision-making processes.PLEASE NOTE:- Appointment to this position and continued employment with the agency is contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining New York State residency within six months of hiring.- Appointment to this position is not final until all agency approvals have been granted.
