Director of Nursing (DON)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of Nursing (DON) to lead clinical operations within a skilled nursing facility. Strong candidates will oversee nursing staff, maintain regulatory compliance, support quality resident outcomes, and help foster a positive and accountable clinical culture throughout the facility.
The ideal candidate is proactive, operationally strong, adaptable, and capable of thriving within a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Location: Rochester, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time, Onsite
Salary Range: $115,000 – $145,000 USD /Annually

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all nursing operations within the facility
- Lead, mentor, and support nursing staff across departments
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal healthcare regulations
- Maintain ongoing survey readiness and implement corrective action plans when necessary
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve resident outcomes and operational performance
- Monitor staffing, scheduling, workflows, and nursing performance
- Support infection prevention, quality assurance, and clinical improvement initiatives
- Build and maintain a positive culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and resident care
- Provide leadership support during audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews
- Ensure proper documentation standards and clinical best practices are consistently followed
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the applicable state
- Previous Director of Nursing (DON), Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), or strong nursing leadership experience within skilled nursing or long-term care settings
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, survey readiness, and healthcare operations
- Proven leadership and staff management experience
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform effectively within fast-paced environments
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows, staffing coordination, and patient care standards
- Ability to lead with professionalism, accountability, and a team-oriented mindset
Compensation
The published salary range is used as a guide to provide prospective candidates with a level of compensation that is competitive with today’s market. The salary range for this position is a good faith estimate that allows for flexibility to align with various levels of experience, education, and performance.
