Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Stroke Stepdown

Location: Utica, New York

Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts

Schedule: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Medical/Surgical Stroke Stepdown assignment in Utica, NY. The ideal candidate will have strong Med/Surg and stroke stepdown experience, excellent patient assessment skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for stroke stepdown and Med/Surg patients
• Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to clinical changes
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Care for patients with stroke, COPD, CHF, renal conditions, pulmonary issues, dialysis, pneumonia, and isolation precautions
• Operate specialty equipment including IV pumps, NG tubes, and feeding tubes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure quality patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and charting within EPIC EMR
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge care
• Follow hospital safety, infection control, and patient care standards
• Float to other units as required based on facility needs

Required Qualifications

• Active New York RN License required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience required
• Stroke Stepdown experience required
• Travel nursing experience required
• Current AHA BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required (may be obtained before start date)
• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work effectively in high-acuity settings
