What the role is about:We are seeking an energetic and experienced Brand Specialist to join our growing dynamic team! The Brand Specialist will be responsible for driving brand awareness, market penetration, and exposure for the designated brand across the entire New York market through targeted field marketing efforts, product trainings, and consumer/patient engagement. This individual will be dedicated to establishing the designated brand as a leading, recognizable presence throughout NY by building and managing relationships with licensed medical and adult-use dispensaries, staff, and key industry stakeholders statewide. This position reports directly to the Head of Wholesale NY.
What impact you'll make:
- Serve as the lead product expert and brand voice for the designated brand at pop-ups, vendor days, cannabis trade engagements, client events, and other hosted events across the NY market
- Develop and execute a strategic market penetration plan to increase the designated brand's visibility, shelf presence, and consumer recognition across all NY regions (e.g., NYC, Long Island, Hudson Valley, Western NY, etc.)
- Successfully communicate the designated brand's values, ethos, product line, and differentiators to customers, retailers, and industry partners
- Prospect and maintain a highly organized schedule of on-site and off-site staff education sessions, budtender trainings, and brand activation events statewide
- Engage with dispensary partners and vendors to collect product feedback; relay insights to company management to inform brand strategy, product development, and marketing collateral
- Track and report on the designated brand's market share, competitive positioning, and brand sentiment across the NY market; keep current on the NY Medical and Adult Use Marijuana Program and competitive landscape
- Identify and secure premium merchandising opportunities and placements specifically for the designated brand, ensuring consistent visual branding and messaging across all accounts
- Build and sustain strong relationships with dispensary owners, buyers, and staff to establish the designated brand as a top-of-mind, trusted brand
- Present and deliver brand-specific sales and marketing collateral, cultivar/genetic information, and value propositions tailored to the designated brand
- Support Sales Specialists and the Wholesale Manager by communicating market feedback, brand performance data, and account-level opportunities for the designated brand's growth
- Represent the designated brand and the broader company at community outreach events, industry trade shows, and conferences across NY; manage setup, breakdown, and maintenance of brand displays and materials
- Identify and cultivate new account and partnership leads for the designated brand via phone, email, and in-person outreach; document outcomes and follow-up activity
- Maintain accurate reporting and records related to the designated brand's performance, including all NY-mandated documentation
What you’ve accomplished:
- High School Diploma
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Prior experience in a similar role (preferred)
- 1+ years of sales/networking experience (preferred)
- 1+ years of cannabis industry experience (preferred)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Excellent collaboration skills
- Proficient or working knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently and as a team, both in person and remotely
- Experience working in a sales role in a highly regulated industry preferred
- Experience with sales management or CRM software preferred
- Ability to travel up to 50%-75% and overnights
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Clean driving record, and valid driver’s license required
- Access to a reliable vehicle to support regular job duties and customer deliveries as needed
- Long periods of prolonged sitting and standing
- Long periods of prolonged use of office equipment including computers and phones
- Able to stand up to 4 hours at a time
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
What we offer:
- Compensation: $50,000-55,000 annually
