The Employment & Training Administration is currently seeking a Youth Case Manager to join their team.
The Youth Case Manager will help plan, coordinate and supervise the activities of individuals enrolled in the Youth Employment Program and Summer Youth Employment Program. The essential role of the Youth Case Manager will be teaching the participants proper work ethic which includes honesty and integrity in the workplace; following all rules and procedures as directed; stressing the importance of being on time; understanding acceptable reasons for not reporting to work or leaving early; being cooperative and a team player; respecting co-workers and supervisors; doing your job to the best of your ability; and practicing effective communication skills. The Youth Case Manager will handle the maintenance of participant records, data entry and case note activities. Organization and computer experience a must. Candidate must have strong counseling skills to motivate clients and to identify and overcome barriers using a supportive approach. Act as a coach by preparing and mentoring youth during their [Summer] Youth Employment Program. This may include encouraging and guiding appropriate dress, attitude, interview skills, and other job readiness training. Includes employer and work site visits. Visiting/monitoring worksites to ensure participants are completing age-appropriate duties, gaining a rewarding work experience, ensuring adequate work is provided with proper supervision, and most vital that youth are in a safe environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist with eligibility intake interviews, help process all participant paperwork and maintain files for each intake.
- Assist with participant orientation (if applicable) and prepare correspondence to youth regarding the status of their application/placement.
- Responsible for weekly collection of youth sign in sheets, completing timesheets and assisting in inputting hours for payroll.
- Answer telephone calls from youth and or their parent/guardian.
- Participates in case conferences, informational meetings with various partner agencies and/or services.
- Counsel individual participants to motivate, reinforce and develop a solid work ethic and achieve realistic goals.
- Maintains participant program records, enters and updates as needed, including the formulation of an assessment, and other relevant data.
- Completes reports such as accident and/or incident reports.
- Data entry into summer youth database.
- Provide mentoring to youth in their job assignments and related needs.
- May make work-site field visits to evaluate participant progress.
- Will work under the supervision of Employment Services Youth Coordinators to meet program needs and assist with goals.
Job Requirements:
Education & Experience Required: Associate degree or higher OR completion of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university; OR two years' experience in the human services field. Must be computer literate. This position requires the ability to travel between Orange County Worksites, offices and other locations as needed.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
- Bachelor's degree in related field; OR Associate's Degree and one (1) year experience working in job training, placement or human services programs.
- Good knowledge of the cultural, environmental and personal factors influencing the lives of persons who are economically disadvantaged, low income, unemployed or otherwise facing barriers to employment.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationship with supervising personnel, co-workers, employees and the public.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.

Salary: $48,880 per annum. This position is contingent upon the continued availability of grant funds.
