General Description POSTING NOTICE NOTICE TO CITY OF ROCHESTER EMPLOYEES REPRESENTED BY AFSCME UNION PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITY IF YOU ARE NOT A CURRENT CITY OF ROCHESTER EMPLOYEE YOU CAN NOT APPLY FOR THIS POSTING. This is a Competitive Class position. The individual selected to fill this vacancy will be given a provisional appointment and will be required to participate in the next Civil Service Examination for this title. If you are already a City employee and have permanent, competitive status in your current position and appointment to this title would result in a provisional appointment in another department, you will lose your previous permanent competitive rights. This posting is in accordance with Article 16, Sections 2 & 3, of the Contract Agreement between the City of Rochester and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees Unions 1635, A, B, C, (AFSCME). The results of this posting may be used to fill unanticipated vacancies that occur within three months of the closing date of this posting. Applications submitted by AFSCME Part-Time bargaining unit members will be considered after the AFSCME Full-Time collective bargaining agreement posting requirements are met and prior to the job opening being advertised to the public. The employee in this position is primarily responsible for supervising the processing and maintenance of various records and accounts. This employee works under the general supervision of a higher level employee. Performs related work as required.

Typical Work Activities

• Supervises and assigns work to employees performing record and account keeping duties;
• Processes journal entries submitted for payment;
• Performs budgetary control functions;
• Prepares a variety of written and statistical reports;
• Corresponds with and answers questions from the public and various other City departments;
• Assists in the preparation of budget estimates for the fiscal period;
• Prepares data for computer processing and reads printouts.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED PLUS

• Associates degree in Business Administration or a related field AND three (3) years of experience in record and account keeping; OR
• Four (4) years experience as described in A.
