Christian Dior Tailor, House Of Dior, New York
- Ensuring the proper fit of garments
- Answering customer questions regarding alterations, fit, repair, cleaning, or care.
- Marking garments for tailoring
- Sewing needed alterations within the alteration schedule provided to customer
- Pressing garments
- Repair garments when appropriate
- Maintain orderly appearance of tailor shop and keep supplies stocked.
- Ensure that all equipment such as sewing machines, pressers, and steamers are well-maintained and kept in working order.
- Use proper telephone etiquette when answering the phone, taking messages, answering customer inquiries.
- Communicate customer requests to management.
- Help solve problems and make informed suggestions that affect the service, and productivity of the tailor shop.
- Hang and store customers altered and unaltered merchandise in a neat and organized manner.
- Participate in store meetings and training seminars as necessary
- Arrive to work at designated time and work full designated shifts
- Any other tasks as assigned from time to time by any manager.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures
- Ability to provide high-quality workmanship in alterations, repairs and pressing of merchandise
- Ability to accurately mark and pin garments for alteration
- Ability to understand all fit issues and make appropriate recommendations regarding fit and alteration of merchandise
- Ability to understand garment care instructions and give appropriate advice with respect to care and maintenance of merchandise.
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service in person and by telephone.
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner, and listen attentively to others, understand material, and provide information to all employees corporate personnel and customers
- Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation
- Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work varied hours/days
- Previous experience as a tailor, seamstress, or fitter.
- Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job, including, but not limited to, sewing machines, pressing and ironing equipment, etc.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and to move and handle heavy garments and garment bags throughout the store, which entails lifting, and perform all functions as set forth above
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and follow-through skills
- Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed
- Willingness to adhere to all company policies, procedures, regulations, and standards.
