Prep Cook
We are seeking a Prep Cook to support daily kitchen operations while maintaining the highest standards of quality, organization, and food safety. This is a hands-on role for someone who is passionate about food, enjoys working with their hands, and can keep up in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and menu items according to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards
- Set up and break down prep stations before and after shifts
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation in compliance with food safety standards
- Properly label, date, and store all prepped items and ingredients
- Monitor ingredient freshness and rotate stock using FIFO (first in, first out) practices
- Assist with packing, loading, and organizing food and equipment for off-site events
- Communicate with the team about shortages, timing, or equipment issues
- Follow instructions accurately while adapting to last-minute changes or substitutions
- Maintain a positive, team-first attitude during busy or high-pressure shifts
- Assist with inventory checks and restocking of prep supplies
Requirements
- Previous experience in a prep kitchen
- Basic knife skills and familiarity with kitchen equipment
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions with attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently, both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Food safety certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Must be willing and able to
- Complete and obtain training and proper documentation of state and city sanitation certificate
- Complete training program
- Work a variable and flexible schedule which may include nights, weekends, and holidays
