Job Summary:
The Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life is a student-focused, collaborative, and strategic leader responsible for the development and management of Rensselaer's fraternity and sorority community. The Director supports an active and academically engaged fraternity and sorority system that contributes meaningfully to campus culture, school spirit, and student success at one of the nation's premier STEM institutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, Organizational Leadership, or related field
- 5 (five) or more years of
progressively responsible student affairs experience, including;
- A strong background in fraternity and sorority life
- Proven experience managing risk, supporting student conduct processes, and navigating crisis response
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusive excellence and belonging among a diverse student population
Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience advising culturally based fraternal organizations (e.g., NPHC, MGC)
- Experience overseeing housing operations and physical facility concerns
- Supervisory experience
- Familiarity with outcomes assessment, strategic planning, and/or data-informed decision making
- Experience working with high performing students

Job Duties:
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for fraternity and sorority life that supports RPI's educational mission and Student Experience priorities.
- Serve as the primary advisor to recognized fraternities and sororities, providing proactive coaching to student and council leaders. Monitor adherence to university policies, inter/national standards, and legal compliance related to hazing, risk management, and health/safety.
- Promote a collaborative and supportive team culture focused on belonging, student development, and service excellence. Supervise one full-time, professional staff member and potential student workers.
- Coordinate with campus colleagues to ensure the safety, sustainability, and operational needs of fraternity and sorority housing. Guide chapter officers and housing corporations on health/safety protocols, financial management, and facility Develop and deliver education on the value of being a member of a fraternity or sorority, leadership development, hazing and harm prevention, inclusive excellence and identity development, and other topics.
- Track and assess student engagement, leadership development, and community impact using data-informed practices.
Shift:
Business Hours with weekends or evenings occasionally required
Travel:
Local travel between campus locations only
Expected hiring range: $75,000 - $85,000
- The selected candidate's salary will b determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate's qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer's good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
