Senior Test Engineer
EPC Power is looking to add a Senior Test Engineer to our manufacturing team. In this role you will work with a team of technicians & lead root cause failure analysis. This will include main assembly, sub assembly, and board level testing failures. You will be responsible for documenting failures & development of new test processes/fixtures to strive towards a lean operating production line. You will have opportunities to contribute to new product testing, customer requests, lab testing, PCB development and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Lead root cause failure analysis during new product launch at our Greenville facility
- Maintenance & PM of production line automated test system
- Development efforts of hardware design for test fixtures used in production testing, includes wiring schematics, appropriate test equipment selection, test software requirements, and test reporting
- Support commissioning of new test stands and validate proper functionality of hardware/software, safety, documentation & release to production
- Select proper wire size and components based on ampacity and voltage requirements
- Develop, coordinate, and participate in board and equipment functional testing, wiring checkout, FAT, and end of line testing
- Troubleshoot system electrical issues as needed
- Participate in test design development and validation activities
- Document RCFA work & process development presentations
- Occasional travel may be required (<10%)
Requirements
- B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, M.Sc preferred
- 7+ years experience in related to job responsibilities
- Experience designing safety fixtures/circuits/plans for mid to high volume production line assemblies
- Strong understanding of NI test stand/LabVIEW architecture & best practices
- Solid understanding of the fundamental concepts of electrical power
- Strong understanding of electrical circuits
- Experience with typical commercial and industrial electrical power (480Vac, 3p)
- Capability to root cause PCBA failures in the production line
- Interested in power electronics
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well within a team and clearly communicate technical progress and challenges
- Able to understand, maintain, and improve company electrical drawing standards
- Familiar with typical lab equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, soldering stations, signal generators, DAQ
Desired Skills
- PCB layout and design via Altium
- Previous power electronics experience
- Experience designing analog/digital circuitry for high accuracy measurement systems
