Taproom Manager
About Us
TALEA is NYC’s female-founded craft brewery changing the perception of craft beer. We operate 5 (soon to be 6) taprooms across Manhattan and Brooklyn that bring our craft beer as well as cocktails, wine and food to guests through a hospitality-focused experience. We are known for our welcoming environment, female-forward brand, and beautifully designed spaces. TALEA has collaborated with world-renowned brands like Levain, Fishwife, Olipop, and Shake Shack. Our beers are available at Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Costco and hundreds of bars, restaurants, and retailers across NYC and the surrounding areas.
The Role
TALEA is looking for an eager and hard-working hospitality & beer lover to manage our front-of-house (FOH) taproom and staff.
The Taproom Manager will be responsible for opening/closing the taproom 4-5 days per week. You’ll be working independently at times, so you must be comfortable wearing many hats. Responsibilities include receiving deliveries, prepping coffee/pastries, opening the bar, pouring and serving beer, preparing small plates, supporting the staff and providing a smiling, friendly face for our team members and guests. The ability to multitask and prioritize across responsibilities are essential in this position.
Depending on the day, you may be working independently to supervise all staff, or in a supporting role to the General Manager. You may also be working closely with our Head of Hospitality, Director of Brand Experience and Private Events Manager to ensure overall service, events and pop-ups run smoothly.
As a member of the nimble TALEA team, you’ll be joining a growing company in its early stage - be prepared to get your hands dirty! We value autonomy, ambition, grit, and an insatiable desire to exceed expectations. If you’re looking for a fun, fast-paced, challenging opportunity, we’d love to hear from you. Not sure if you’re qualified? Throw your hat in the ring anyway, and send us a cover letter telling us why you’re a fit for the role!
Responsibilities
- Open, close, and operate the space in a professional, efficient, and friendly manner
- Manage the FOH team, ensuring they are actively engaged in their roles including completing any opening, closing, and side work
- Ensure service runs smoothly in the taproom and guests have a delightful experience
- Educate customers on the TALEA brand and beers through every interaction in the taproom
- Serve TALEA taproom guests with unparalleled knowledge, expertise, and kindness
- Operate the bar and kitchen with attention to detail, ensuring supplies are stocked and the space is clean
- Communicate thoughtfully, respectfully, and efficiently
- Stay positive and professional under pressure; it can get busy and people need their beer!
Looking for someone who…
- Has at least 3 years of experience working in a service role (this is required)
- Is passionate about craft beer, excited about TALEA’s vision, and obsessed with customer experience and satisfaction
- Is enthusiastic and comfortable working for an early-stage company in a rapidly changing environment
- Has strong attention to detail and communication skills
- Can multitask in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing the guest experience
- Is self-motivated and self-disciplined; takes initiative and work autonomously, bringing creative ideas to the table and seeing projects through to completion
- Is 21 years of age or older, and can lift 25 lbs (about the weight of a case of beer)
- Is available to work 8 hour shifts during days, evenings, holidays and weekends starting immediately
Experience bartending, serving, managing people, operations, or other complementary fields will be helpful; a passion for craft beer and delighting customers is required.
Compensation
- Compensation: Salary ($60,000 - $65,000) / based on experience
- Benefits & Perks: Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Paid Time Off, 401k
