Associate director
The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust seeks an energetic and creative fundraising professional to support its individual fundraising efforts through major and mid-level donations. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and working in collaboration with The Associate Director of Individual Giving will advance the institution’s philanthropic goals by creating and implementing effective cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and events for donors and prospects in the $10,000 – $100,000 range for general operations, restricted campaigns, and in support institutional goals. In addition, the position supervises a direct report in the management of the Patron Circle ($1,000+) and Young Friends (ages 21-29) affinity groups and targeted appeals including the Annual Gathering of Remembrance Fundraising Appeal.
Responsibilities- Oversee a portfolio of 100 to 150 individual donors and prospects and provide logistical and creative support to meet fundraising goals and build long-term relationships;
- Assist in setting and meeting annual income goals for prospects in portfolio;
- Identify, cultivate, and steward prospects with an identified gift level of $10,000 and up;
- Draft and edit proposals, pitch presentations, briefings, comprehensive research profiles, etc. for a variety of purposes including executive leadership and board use for their portfolios;
- Staff and appropriately brief executives for meetings with donors and prospects;
- Ensure donor database records are up-to-date and solicitation lists are coordinated across the departments;
- Provide donor stewardship and donor events, tours, and programs at the Museum and related sites;
- Supervise and mentor department teammates in securing $1,000-$10,000 range gifts and in growing the Patron Circle ($1,000+) and Young Friends (ages 21-29) membership groups;
- Assist Museum leadership with ancillary duties such as budget preparation, production of collateral materials, board reporting, project management, and other tasks as needed; and
- Other duties as assigned.
- At least five years of experience in individual fundraising in the non-profit field, preferably in a cultural institution and/or Jewish philanthropy;
- Proven ability to personally cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts ($10,000+) from individuals;
- Ability to ground relationships with donors and prospective donors in Jewish culture and values;
- Superior written and oral communication skills, ability to write and speak in clear, crisp and compelling ways and to articulate the goals, mission and values of the Museum;
- Intellectual depth, maturity and interpersonal skills to foster the trust and confidence of Museum leadership and donors;
- Must adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate an empathetic disposition, exhibit perseverance, and project an optimistic and positive attitude;
- Willingness to travel and work weekends and evenings as necessary;
- Working knowledge of philanthropic vehicles and proficiency in Altru or Raiser’s Edge or other
- development technology for prospect identification and research;
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent life experience required; advanced degree preferred.

- Salary Range: $80,000-$95,000 with generous benefits
- Full-time, 40 hours a week including some evening and weekend hours, with hybrid schedule available after 90 days
