Senior Energy Engineer (New York, USA)

BA Global Talent is seeking a Senior Energy Engineer (Hybrid)who is deeply passionate about energy performance and sustainability. This technical role focuses on real estate projects and requires a professional with practical expertise across the energy performance lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct advanced energy modeling to optimize performance in building and real estate design projects.
• Provide strategic recommendations to improve energy efficiency and sustainability outcomes.
• Support monitoring and verification (M&V) and commissioning processes, as applicable.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure energy performance goals are met.
• Lead the energy auditing and commissioning processes for major renovation and new construction projects.
• Develop and refine advanced building energy models to optimize performance and support sustainability goals with innovative solutions.
• Collaborate closely with design and construction teams to ensure alignment with energy codes and green building standards.
• Conduct thorough site inspections, system testing, and performance verification.
• Prepare and present insightful reports and recommendations to optimize building systems.
• Serve as a mentor and potential leader within the energy engineering team.
• Work with analytics leads to support energy management and highly sustainable operations for portfolios worldwide through continuous and monitoring-based commissioning.
• Contribute to advancing lower-carbon, high-performance, and healthier real estate through innovation and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Science and Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of combined experience in building systems commissioning and energy modeling.
• Proficiency with whole-building energy modeling software such as DesignBuilder, OpenStudio, IES-VE, EnergyPlus, and eQuest.
• Deep understanding of building energy conservation codes, ASHRAE standards, and LEED technical credits.
• Strong proficiency with EnergyPlus, DesignBuilder, and IESVE.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the energy performance lifecycle, including exploration and assessments, advanced modeling, testing and verification, M&V, and commissioning.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Certifications such as ASHRAE's HBDP, BEMP, BEAP, BCxP, or AEE's CEA, CEM, EBCP are a plus.
• Professional Engineer (PE) in New York State or willingness to obtain licensure within 12 months, is a plus.
