Line Cook
The culinary program at Klocke Estate embodies the rich and indulgent heritage of various regions of France and Europe through the lens of a local Hudson Valley influence with a focus on seasonal produce, sustainable farming practices, and celebrating the best tasting products available. We are looking for highly motivated and passionate cooks to bring their creativity and skills to our team.
Line Cooks are responsible for prepping and executing service of all menu items and daily family meal with efficiency and attention to detail while maintaining high levels of cleanliness and adhering to health and sanitation requirements.
Role & Responsibilities
- Execute Culinary offerings with a high level of precision and care.
- Assist Culinary management in all special projects, kitchen operations and menu development.
- Maintain effective communication with BOH and FOH teams, including management and floor and bar teams.
- Assist in maintenance of facilities, storage areas and workspaces.
- Assists with receiving, organizing and storing incoming culinary and operational products.
- Participate in daily service meetings with leadership and other hospitality team members.
- Work proactively with Event staff to execute all events to Klocke Estate standards.
- Assist in training new team members.
- Maintain complete knowledge of products and specifications. This includes ingredients, descriptions, sourcing, brands, allergens, etc.
- Cultivate a comprehensive knowledge of our kitchen operations as detailed by the Employee Manual.
- Treat all areas of the building with respect. Clean & reset to zero when necessary. Help to promote a safe and clean environment for co-workers and guests.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Follow policies and procedures in the handbook and manuals.
- Maintain a reasonable schedule with flexible availability, including early mornings or late nights, holidays, weekends, and time for all staff meetings and tastings.
- Should have a strong passion for regional and French/European cuisine, a love for the kitchen and a strong desire to learn and grow.
- Must be detail oriented, extremely organized, and great at time management.
- Willingness to take initiative, jump in when appropriate, and be proactive in helping team members and management as needed.
- Must be professional, patient, adaptable, and enthusiastic with a positive attitude.
Preferred Experience
- Minimum 1 years’ experience in a kitchen position in a high-volume and/or fine-dining restaurant.
- Food Protection Certificate preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- The starting hourly pay for the Line Cook position is $24-$28 per hour, depending on experience
- Benefits for full time employees: Up to 10 days PTO, generous company contributions to health care, vision, dental expenses
Physical Demands
- The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing, for 4 to 10 hours, bending, walking up and down stairs, and moving intermittently during working hours. These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodation.
