Union Welfare Fund Administrator

The Trustees of the Plumbers Local Union No. 200 Fringe Benefit Funds located in Ronkonkoma, New York are seeking applicants for a Benefits Coordinator position. The primary responsibilities will be the day to day administration of self-funded, multiemployer health and welfare funds. The ideal candidate would also have knowledge of the administration of Annuity and Defined Benefit Pension Funds.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Administer various multiemployer benefit programs, including group health, prescription, dental and vision plans for Active and Retired Union members.

· Coordinate all aspects of member/dependent eligibility including enrollments, terminations, changes and beneficiaries.

· Ensure compliance with HIPAA to ensure PHI and PII are appropriately safeguarded.

· Administer COBRA.

· Respond to benefit inquiries on plan provisions, benefit enrollments, status changes, claims issues, claims appeals and other general inquiries.

· Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.

· Maintain member benefit files and group benefits databases ensuring changes are entered appropriately.

· Perform quality checks of benefits-related data.

· Reconcile monthly administrative fee invoices from third-party administrators.

· Order office supplies.

· Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and follow-up skills.

· Self-motivated, with strong organizational and analytical skills and close attention to detail.

· Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

· Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

· Knowledge of employee benefit plan design, medical terminology, including CPT and ICD-9 codes.

Education and Experience:

· 2+ years related benefits experience preferred.

· International Foundation of Employee Benefit Funds coursework a plus.
