Cybersecurity Engineer - Cloud Security
About the Position
We're looking for a hands-on Cloud Security Engineer to join our Cybersecurity team, with a focus on helping mature Jane Street's multi-cloud environment security.
You will build solutions to improve the security posture of our cloud estate and enable various teams across the firm to leverage cloud services safely. The role requires technical expertise in cloud security combined with the people skills to partner with engineering teams, helping them create secure cloud designs while understanding the tradeoffs required to achieve their use cases.
The role encompasses a broad scope of responsibilities, including cloud architecture design and review, tool and automation development, incident response, and system design that prevents misconfigurations before they happen. You'll balance tradeoffs between security controls and business requirements while upholding our high security standards.
You'll also act as a mentor to engineers across the firm, helping them understand cloud security best practices and guiding them through complex security decisions. A key component of doing well in this position is bringing everyone else along with you on the cloud security journey.
As a member of the Cybersecurity team, you'll join a skilled group of programmers and security experts dedicated to keeping the firm safe. Our work covers a wide range of topics, from software engineering and DevOps to risk analysis, security governance, and cyber awareness.
About You
- Have expertise in securing multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes)
- Experienced with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Equally comfortable breaking down complex problems on a whiteboard and taking a hands-on approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting
- Skilled at evaluating security tradeoffs and making risk-based decisions
- An excellent communicator who thrives on talking to people and building relationships; having a collaborative mindset is a must
- Comfortable taking accountability and able to document your decision-making rationale
- Humble about what you know and don't know; not afraid to ask questions and admit mistakes
- Having proficiency in any programming language is a plus
