C-sUAS System Trainer/Instructor

Black River Systems Company, a small, established research-oriented engineering firm headquartered in Utica, NY, is looking for a System Trainer – Instructor for our C-sUAS (Counter-Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems). We are looking for someone who can design, develop and delivery training to USG (United State Government) personnel for highly technical C-sUAS Systems. This role includes outlining syllabus, creating training modules, planning the course schedule, meeting the learning objectives and confirming user competence. This role also will contribute to government programs with technical writing and editing of documentation. Prior Military or Government Training experience is preferred.

Position Responsibilities: 

• Develop expertise in Black River’s C-sUAS product line to become proficient in the systems; prior working knowledge in C-sUAS is necessary and FAA part 107 license is preferred.
• Understand the concept of operation, practical application in the field, and the users.
• Curriculum Development: Create training content (eLearning, slides, documents, videos) for various systems and ensure they are current with the latest software baseline.
• Contribute to government programs with technical writing and editing of customer-facing materials.
• Deliver training materials to students in a variety of environments (via teleconference, in-person locally, at site or at our remote training center) as needed.
• Develop Computer Based Training for use in USG Learning Management System.
• Communicate with the Engineering and Support Teams on user feedback, system deficiencies, course efficacy and FAQs.
• Support subcontract / remote trainers as needed.
• Interface with USG training Leadership to stay current on the latest needs of the customer base.

Position Requirements: 

• This is a hands-on role developing and delivering training materials for use in virtual and in-person learning environments.
• Prior Military or Government Training experience is preferred, e.g. Training Specialist/Instructor, including use of ATIS, myTraining or JTS.
• 5+ years’ experience with delivering training to NCOIC type personnel or Air Domain Awareness.
• The ability to lift and handle up to 40 pounds of materials, and the physical ability to bend, stoop and stretch as required for use of the equipment.
• Self-motivated and capable of performing duties with limited supervision.
• Maintain organized digital files, proactively manage courses and delivery courses on time.
• Adherence to all safety standards set by company and regulatory agencies.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are required.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills are required.
• Must be able to work in a team environment across multiple agencies.
• US citizenship - must have or be eligible for a Department of Defense security clearance.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
