General Ledger Accountant
H&H is seeking a General Ledger Accountant to join the firm’s New York City office. This role supports the firm’s accounting operations with a strong emphasis on Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and contract compliance. The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, supporting monthly close activities, and ensuring financial records comply with GAAP, FAR, and internal policies.

Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP and FAR requirements
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including accruals and reclassifications
- Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Ensure proper classification of direct, indirect, and unallowable costs in compliance with FAR guidelines
- Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of supporting documentation
- Maintain documentation to support FAR compliance, audit trails, and internal accounting policies
- Coordinate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Project Accounting teams to ensure accurate financial postings
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Three or more years of general ledger or corporate accounting experience
- Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation requirements
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal control environments
- Experience with ERP accounting systems such as Deltek Vantagepoint
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail with effective analytical and problem-solving abilities
Benefits
Salary range — $75,000-$95,000 annually. Commensurate with experience
