Registered Nurse Job Details – Rochester, NY

• Position Type: Locum tenens (travel RN contract)
• Location: Rochester, NY 14626 (New York healthcare jobs)
• Facility: Short-term acute care, teaching hospital
• Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown (Unit 2400 INCU)
• Shift: Night shifts, 4x12-hour (19:00 - 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 10/20/2025 – End: 1/19/2026)
• Patient Ratio: 1:3
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Charting System: Epic (required)
• Scrub Color: Navy and white combinations
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2020 - $2080

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or Stepdown RN experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required for all RN jobs)
• Epic charting experience (required; first-time US travelers must have Epic experience)
• Telemetry (tele) experience required
• Proficient in interpreting and managing dysrhythmias
• Experience with IV insulin protocols, titration of insulin drips, and feeding tube care
• Blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management
• Skilled in starting IVs, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vac use
• Ability to float within scope to similar nursing units as needed
• Not accepting local candidates within 75 miles of Rochester, NY

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with complex diagnoses, including DKA, acute respiratory needs (BiPap, High Flow, Vent/Trachs), ETOH withdrawal, sepsis, and more
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, physical therapy, respiratory, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, rapid response)
• Utilize specialized equipment such as CADDS and PCA pumps
• Perform and manage telemetry monitoring, interpretation, and management of dysrhythmias
• Administer blood products and manage central and peripheral lines
• Provide wound care and manage wound vacs
• Maintain strict adherence to isolation precautions and infection control protocols
• Float to similar units within scope as needed to support facility staffing needs
