Subrights Associate
SUMMARY:
Reporting to two Associate Subrights Directors, the Subrights Associate will support a dynamic Rights department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Handles rights sales for select domestic and international territories.
- Responsible for helping to gather submission material, pitch and submit titles to international publishers, negotiate and close deals.
- Fulfill production/ digital file requests for licensees, invoice customers as needed.
- Run quarterly rights activity reports, maintain financial spreadsheets
- Assist in chasing contracts and advance & royalty payments as needed.
- Fulfill sample requests and book orders for scouts, co-agents, and domestic contacts
- Help to prepare for London and Frankfurt book fairs including:
- Creating PowerPoint and other sales materials for seasonal book fair
- Assist in general prep for the Fair
- Assist with book fair follow-up including gathering materials and placing/ sending book orders
- Author Copies
- Receive, check copyright, and log international copies
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- 1-2 years of prior publishing experience required; ideally in a Subrights setting.
- A passion for rights, and an interest in commercial publishing across a broad range of fiction and non-fiction.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings regardless of audience.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively while also ensuring accuracy of work and attention to detail.
- Must be results driven and takes appropriate steps to achieve goals while taking ownership of situations as needed.
- Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work product and demonstrate good follow up and follow through.

The compensation range for this position is $53K-$56K. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
