The Cornell Joan Klein Jacobs Center for Precision Nutrition and Health focuses on intersection of artificial intelligence, technology, and nutrition to enhance population health. By leveraging Cornell's expertise in AI and technological innovation, the center works to develop personalized nutrition guidance and inform population-level policymaking. The center prioritizes bridging academic research with practical applications to make meaningful contributions to the field of nutritional science, health, and policy. Its mission is to drive innovative, impactful research while fostering interdisciplinary collaborations that benefit both individual and public health outcomes.

The Assistant or Associate Research Professor will lead and participate in cutting-edge research endeavors at the intersection of nutrition, artificial intelligence, and technology. Key responsibilities include leading one of the center's groups in the area of nutrition or data and analytics, developing target trial emulations, drafting findings for reports and peer-reviewed journals, developing interdisciplinary projects, working with last mile partners, and securing funding through grant proposals. This is a full-time hybrid/remote role based in Ithaca, NY or New York City or at partner location with opportunities for remote work. The position includes collaborating with experts in related fields and contributing to the development of innovative methodologies to improve personalized and population-level health outcomes.

Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or equivalent in nutrition, computational biology, data science, or a closely related field.
  • Deep expertise in data science, nutrition, artificial intelligence, epidemiology, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in research design, data analysis, and publishing in high-impact journals.
  • Advanced skills in bioinformatics, machine learning, or other relevant technologies.
  • Strong abilities in grant writing and securing research funding.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective collaboration and dissemination.
  • Leadership experience in managing cross-disciplinary teams or guiding trainees.
  • Familiarity with connecting academic research to practical community or policy applications is a plus.
  • Experience working with or conducting research alongside food-insecure, low-income, or otherwise under-resourced populations, with an understanding of how structural barriers shape nutrition access and behavior.
