Director of Marketing and Communications
Reports to: Vice President for Advancement
Status: Full time, exempt
The Director of Marketing and Communications will lead and advance the communication and marketing strategy for St. Mary’s High School. This role is responsible for shaping and telling the story of St. Mary’s in a way that strengthens the school’s brand, drives enrollment, and supports revenue-generating initiatives. The Director provides strategic oversight of the school’s comprehensive marketing and communications portfolio, including its multi-channel marketing strategy, social media and digital presence, brand identity, storytelling initiatives, and all promotional and communication materials. This position works collaboratively with the Advancement and Admissions Offices to ensure consistent, mission-aligned communication that effectively engages prospective families, current families, alumni, and the broader community.
Duties and Responsibilities
Content Creation & Asset Management
- Produce compelling visual and written content for digital platforms, ensuring accuracy, quality, and brand consistency.
- Develop storytelling-driven content that supports enrollment growth, donor engagement, and community pride.
- Maintain and organize a comprehensive library of digital assets, including photos, videos, graphics, and templates.
- Ensure all content meets school standards and follows appropriate approval processes.
Social Media
- Oversee and manage the school’s official website and social media platforms, including Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, and TikTok.
- Develop, schedule, and publish content that reflects the school’s brand identity and communication goals.
- Tell the story of St. Mary’s High School through compelling posts that highlight student life, academic excellence, athletics, arts, and community values. '
- Monitor engagement, respond to messages and comments as appropriate, and analyze performance metrics to guide strategy.
- Capture photos and videos at school events to support high-quality content creation.
Content Calendar & Strategic Planning
- Develop and manage a comprehensive content calendar to ensure timely, strategic communication across platforms.
- Plan content around key milestones, enrollment cycles, fundraising campaigns, and school initiatives.
- Write and disseminate any press releases, develop any TV, radio, and print ads where appropriate.
- Coordinate with Advancement and Admissions to anticipate upcoming needs, events, and priorities.
Collaboration with Advancement & Admissions
- Partner closely with both offices to support marketing needs related to fundraising, admissions, and community engagement.
- Create messaging and campaigns that highlight the value of a St. Mary’s High School education and drive prospective family interest.
- Promote events, campaigns, and programs through digital and print channels.
- Participate in regular strategy meetings to align messaging and maintain cohesive communication across departments.
- Provide event support for key Advancement events.
Design & Promotional Materials
- Create digital and print materials for school events, programs, and campaigns.
- Use Canva or similar platforms to design graphics, flyers, social media posts, and other branded assets.
- Ensure all materials adhere to established branding guidelines and support enrollment and revenue-focused goals.
- Curate any trophy cases, awards / Hall of Fames, wall skins in hallways, Gus Galasso Performing Arts Center, Athletic Center, and Cafeteria.
Qualifications Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, or a related field preferred.
- Experience managing social media platforms for an organization or brand.
- Experience in a school or nonprofit environment is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Self-starter and someone who is easily motivated by a fast-paced working environment.
- Proficiency with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is required.
- Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple departments and key stakeholders.
- Understanding of marketing trends, analytics, and best practices.
- Ability to translate school culture and mission into compelling narratives that support enrollment and fundraising goals.
Compensation and Work Environment
- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for event coverage.
- Standard office environment with some on-campus movement for content gathering.
Salary Range: $65,000–$75,000, based on experience and qualifications.
