Abstractor of Title

Job Type: Full-time, On-site - could work at either location.

About Us: Rochester Equity Partners, Inc. DBA WebTitle Agency is a respected provider of title services in the Greater Rochester area. We are seeking a skilled Title Abstractor to join our team in our Rochester office.

Job Description: We are looking for a detail-oriented and thorough Title Abstractor to research and summarize property records. The ideal candidate will have excellent research skills and a strong understanding of real estate records in Monroe County and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive searches of public records to trace property ownership history
• Examine and analyze various legal documents, including deeds, mortgages, liens, and court records
• Prepare clear and accurate abstracts of title, summarizing all relevant information affecting property ownership
• Identify potential title defects, easements, encroachments, or other issues affecting property rights
• Update existing abstracts with new information as properties change hands or new liens are recorded
• Utilize local resources, including the Monroe County Clerk's office and other relevant databases
• Maintain organized and detailed records of all searches and findings
• Collaborate with title examiners, underwriters, and other team members as needed

Requirements:

• High school diploma required, Bachelor's degree in Business, Real Estate, or related field preferred
• 2+ years of experience in title abstracting or related field
• Strong knowledge of real property law and title search procedures
• Excellent research and analytical skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in title abstracting software and public records databases
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Monroe County and surrounding areas' property records and recording systems
• Experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems)
• Knowledge of New York State-specific property laws and regulations
