Division/Department Information:

MANAGEMENT, ENTREPRENUERSHIP, CONSULTING, AND OPERATONS (MECO) is one of seven departments in the Tobin College of Business. The department has 14 full-time faculty members as well as utilizes several adjuncts to cover courses in the Tobin core at the undergraduate and graduate level as well as offers degrees in B.S. in Management and International Management, M.S. in Global Management and Leadership, and MBA concentrations of Entrepreneurship, Management, and International Business.

Responsibilities and Course Information:

We have teaching needs in organizational behavior, operations, human resources, management, international management, entrepreneurship, computer systems management and/or industrial organizational psychology, and venture capital management. Industry experience is highly preferred along with prior higher education experience in teaching business courses. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate or graduate courses, willingness to teach in person on campus in Queens or Manhattan during the day hours of 9 to 6 pm for undergraduate courses and evenings for graduate courses, generally from 6:40 to 9:30 pm. Candidates must be available to teach undergraduate courses on a two-day schedule during days either Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday, generally. Computer usage and application software familiarity is desirable and there is an expectation that the new faculty member will train on the use of Canvas, our university learning management.

Specific knowledge is a plus:

• Organizational behavior: familiarity with leadership theories/practices, change management, motivation theory, employee productivity
• Operations management: knowledge of supply chain management, logistics, production planning, quality, and modeling optimal decisions
• Human resources management: preference for faculty with experience in certificate programs for HR is a plus, knowledge of staffing, recruiting, performance evaluation, compensation, and working in contemporary settings
• Management: ability to create a stimulating environment for our first-year students, using experiential learning, with knowledge of all key practices of managers including leadership, motivation, human resource management, strategic management, etc.
• International management: knowledge of import/export, franchise, distribution, compliance, and human resources practices
• Industrial/Organizational psychology: knowledge of the human side of business practices, measurement of affective and cognitive variables, and change management
• Venture capital management: seeking an industry professional for a new VC program to guide the development of the internal VC program and to teach all of the fundamentals of investing in the VC landscape.

Qualifications:

Master's degree and prior teaching experienced preferred in area or related field. Strong industry experience is strongly recommended.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the per course salary range for this position is $5,409-$8,000 .
