C.H. Thompson is currently seeking a skilled Autobody Technician to join our team. As an Autobody Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining quality, safety, and productivity through a hands-on approach. Specifically, the role focuses on preparing metal surfaces using body filler (Bondo), sanding, priming, in preparation for subsequent processes such as anodize, paint or powder coat. This is a hands-on role and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in producing high-quality work.

Position Overview

• Perform surface preparation, including applying body filler (Bondo) to parts to repair imperfections, sanding, and priming of parts.
• Operate sandblasting equipment as needed to clean and prepare parts.
• Inspect surfaces for defects and ensure proper preparation is complete and quality standards are met before sending for subsequent processes.
• Utilize computer system to track job progress and scan in and out of jobs.
• Rack and unrack parts as needed, including reading work orders to determine how to place or hang metal parts on racks or hooks.
• Maintain a safe work environment by wearing appropriate PPE (gloves, safety glasses) as required for each task to protect against hazards.

Qualifications :

• Experience doing surface preparation techniques and autobody work required.
• Experience in sandblasting is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
• Comfortable with physical tasks including lifting, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and reaching.
• Willingness to learn and take direction while contributing to team success.

Shift:

• Summer Hours: Monday - Thursday 6:30am - 3:30pm, Friday 6:30am-12:30pm
• Regular Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

Total Compensation Package:

• Wage

• • $17.50 - $20.00 per hour (compensation depends on the selected candidate's experience).
