Who We Are
Sitting on a quiet tree-lined street in Soho, twelve floors rise above the neighborhood’s storied lofts, boutiques, and galleries. The name derives from the particular manner of hospitality, one that feels more like staying at the home of a dear friend than at a hotel — discreet, refined, generous. Our hotel has 90 rooms and suites with four distinct F&B concepts led by an acclaimed chef. The street-side seafood restaurant and second-floor cocktail bar will be venues that are open to the public. The Apartment and The Rooftop are spaces reserved exclusively for guests and friends of guests.
Purpose of the Role
The Barback is responsible for the successful service and support behind our bars. This role works closely with bartenders, ensuring the bar is always prepared for seamless operations and high-volume service. A successful candidate will be proactive, attentive to detail, and passionate about hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Support bartenders during service by clearing, restocking, and ensuring the bar remains clean and organized.
- Maintain par levels and inventory of beverages, garnishes, glassware, and bar tools.
- Assist with batching cocktails and syrups, following recipes accurately and labeling properly.
- Provide basic guest support, such as water service, with professionalism and attention to detail.
- Handle bar trash, spills, and broken glass promptly to ensure a safe, efficient workspace.
- Anticipate needs and communicate effectively with bartenders and management during busy shifts.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
- Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time or for an entire work shift.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience in an upscale restaurant; previous serving experience required.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions according to established procedures.
- Fluent in English (read, write, and speak); bi- or multilingual preferred.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
