Stripe, Inc.: Software Engineer (IC-02) - New York City, New York (and various unanticipated work locations across the U.S.)DUTIES: Independently design, build, and maintain scalable APIs, microservices, and distributed systems across Stripe's engineering teams using Ruby, Java or Python, and cloud-native technologies; Independently design, build, and maintain mobile applications using Android (Kotlin), iOS (Swift/Objective-C), and JavaScript/TypeScript for cross-platform solutions; Develop and implement robust security measures and ensure compliance with financial industry regulations (e.g., PCI DSS) in all software development processes, including both backend services and mobile applications; Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability to handle high-volume financial transactions and data processing, encompassing both server-side systems and mobile app performance; Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions for full-stack implementations, including mobile components; Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack, including mobile applications, to ensure smooth operation of the entire system; Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine the feasibility of design within time and cost constraints for both backend systems and mobile applications and translate them into technical specifications; Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices, including code review processes, testing methodologies, and deployment strategies for both server-side and mobile development; Research and prototype innovative payment solutions, incorporating both backend processing and mobile user experiences, to address emerging market needs and technological advancements; Mentor junior engineers across both backend and mobile development domains, contributing to the team's knowledge base through documentation and knowledge sharing sessions; Conduct technical interviews for the role of Software Engineer and assess candidate qualifications.REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and 1 year of Software engineering experience. Position also requires the following: 1 year of experience in writing code in backend languages including Ruby, Java or Python, as well as mobile development languages including Kotlin for Android, Swift/Objective-C for iOS and JavaScript/TypeScript for cross-platform solutions; 1 year of experience with designing and implementing well-factored algorithms and working with commonly used data structures, applicable to both server-side and mobile application development; 1 year of experience in contributing to or building large-scale distributed systems; 1 year of experience in collaborating and working across different workstreams; and 1 year of experience in articulating and representing customer needs in technical discussions and decision-making processes.LOCATION: New York, NY (and various unanticipated work locations across the U.S.)TELECOMMUTING: 50% work permitted.SALARY: $149,011 - $159,011 per yearCONTACT: Must send resume to [email protected] and reference job code 3811648 to be considered
