Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) with dialysis experience to provide high-quality care in both acute inpatient and chronic outpatient dialysis settings . The RN will be responsible for initiating and managing dialysis treatments, monitoring patients during procedures, and ensuring safe and effective use of dialysis equipment.

Work Settings:

• Acute Care Inpatient Dialysis
• Chronic Outpatient Dialysis

Equipment Used:

• Prismaflex System
• Fresenius 2008T Hemodialysis Machine

Key Responsibilities:

Dialysis Treatment & Administration

• Initiate and set up dialysis treatments
• Administer blood and blood products as ordered
• Perform dialysate conductivity testing
• Cannulate AV fistula and AV graft
• Manage tunneled and non-tunneled catheters

Machine Monitoring & Troubleshooting

• Monitor and respond to machine alarms including:
  • Air foam detector alarm
  • Arterial pressure alarm
  • Venous pressure alarm
  • Blood leak detector alarm
  • Blood pump alarm
  • Conductivity alarm
  • Dialysate pressure alarm
  • Temperature alarm
  • Ultrafiltration alarm
  • Power failure alarm

Post-Dialysis Care

• Return blood safely
• Disconnect from AV fistula or catheter
• Provide post-treatment access care
• Perform sterilization procedures

Clinical Skills & Knowledge:

• Blood glucose monitoring
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Strong infection control practices
• Symptom management and patient monitoring

Emergency & Complication Management:

Ability to recognize and manage:

• Air embolism
• Cardiac arrest (CPR)
• Chest pain
• Clotted access / poor blood flow
• Disequilibrium syndrome
• Hemolysis
• Hyperkalemia
• Hypotension
• Fluid overload
• Muscle cramps
• Pericarditis
• Pyrogenic reactions
• Seizures
• Filter blood leaks
