Professor or Associate Professor (Tenure-Track or Tenured) in Basic HIV/AIDS Research

Albert Einstein College of Medicine
Bronx, NY

The Albert Einstein College of Medicine invites applications from outstanding physician-scientists or basic/translational research scientists focused on Basic HIV/AIDS Research for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position at the Professor or Associate Professor level.

This recruitment is part of a major strategic investment to further expand Einstein’s internationally recognized HIV/AIDS research enterprise and to recruit an exceptional investigator whose work will yield highly impactful discoveries in HIV biology, pathogenesis, prevention, treatment, and cure.

We seek a highly accomplished investigator with a strong record of innovation, scholarly impact, and sustained extramural funding who is poised to lead transformative research programs in HIV/AIDS science.

The successful candidate will join the NIH-funded Einstein-Rockefeller-CUNY-Mount Sinai Center for AIDS Research (ERCM-CFAR), one of the nation’s premier HIV/AIDS research consortia. The ERCM-CFAR brings together more than 200 distinguished investigators spanning basic, translational, clinical, epidemiologic, behavioral, implementation, and public health research across four world-class institutions: Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Rockefeller University, the City University of New York (CUNY), and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Areas of Scientific Interest

We particularly encourage applications from investigators pursuing cutting-edge research in areas including, but not limited to:

HIV reservoir biology, viral persistence and latency; HIV cure and remission strategies; Host-virus interactions and immune evasion; Mucosal immunology and the biology of HIV transmission; Chronic immune activation, aging, and metabolism in HIV; Systems immunology, computational biology, and AI-driven approaches; Single-cell and spatial omics technologies; Gene-editing and cell-based therapeutic approaches; HIV-associated inflammation and comorbidities

Applicants who use innovative interdisciplinary approaches and advanced technologies in their HIV research are especially encouraged to apply.

Research Environment

Einstein provides an exceptionally collaborative and intellectually vibrant research environment with strong institutional commitment to HIV/AIDS research. Faculty benefit from extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across the ERCM-CFAR network and affiliated centers and institutes.

Investigators will have access to resources including:

Large and diverse clinical cohorts and biobanks; State-of-the-art genomics, proteomics, imaging, and computational infrastructure; Advanced single-cell and multi-omics platforms; High-containment BSL-3 cell culture and animal facilities; Outstanding institutional core facilities and translational research resources

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Participate in collaborative interdisciplinary research initiatives across Einstein and the ERCM-CFAR consortium

  • Mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, physician-scientists, and junior faculty

  • Contribute to the educational and scientific missions of the institution

  • Advance our culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, mentorship, and inclusive academic engagement

We seek candidates whose scientific accomplishments, leadership, and commitment to mentorship will enable them to make major contributions to our dynamic and rapidly growing HIV/AIDS research community.

Applicants must hold a PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree and have an established record of high-impact scholarship and current NIH funding in HIV/AIDS research.

Successful candidates will be expected to maintain a vigorous and internationally recognized HIV/AIDS research program supported by NIH and other peer-reviewed funding mechanisms, including collaborative and team-science initiatives.

Applicants should submit the following materials as a single PDF to: [email protected]

Required materials:

  • Cover letter describing research interests and potential contributions to the Einstein HIV/AIDS research program

  • Curriculum vitae

  • Research statement (2–3 pages) outlining prior accomplishments and future research vision
