Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the overall operation and administration of a clinical laboratory to ensure the safe, timely and efficient testing of blood samples. This position will also be responsible for ensuring best practices and regulatory compliance in a laboratory that covers Bacteriology, Hematology, Quality Control, Blood Banking and other laboratory testing.

Develop and edits standard operating procedures ensuring compliance with NYS, NJS and FDA regulations. Manages, trains, mentors and schedules assigned staff. Prepare departmental statistics and reports. Review all quality control activities and ensure regulatory compliance of laboratory. Assist with in in-service education and competency programs. Prepare and monitor departmental budgets. Track and ensure adequacy of inventory. Work with other departments as a team to further organizational goals.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's or higher degree in clinical laboratory technology, or Bachelor"s or higher degree from a program with a major in biology, chemistry, or the physical sciences, and an advanced certificate in clinical laboratory technology, or Education and training sufficient to qualify for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist prior to 2009 as specified in NYS-ED Regulation 79-13.4.

Experience:

If bachelor's degree with at least six years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience subsequent to qualifying of which at least two years have been spent working in a clinical laboratory having a director at the doctoral level. If master's degree with at least four years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience subsequent to qualifying of which at least two years have been spent working in a clinical laboratory having a director at the doctoral level.

Licensure:

Current active NY State License as a Clinical Lab Technologist.
