Founding Full Stack Engineer

OffDeal is a AI-native investment bank offering small business owners a faster and cheaper way to sell their companies. Fresh off a $4.7M seed round backed by Radical Ventures and Y Combinator, we're building the Goldman Sachs for SMBs - a gold standard and go-to for top-tier quality financial services for the backbone of the American economy.

The Role

As a Founding Engineer, you'll work directly with the founders to build the AI-native platform that empowers our M&A advisors to be 10x more productive. Your work will directly impact how $10 trillion worth of small businesses change hands over the coming decade.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with our M&A advisors to own 0 to 1 projects, from ideation to deployment

• Build across the entire stack, in our 100% TypeScript (i.e. ReactJS + NodeJS) codebase

• Work with the latest AI tech, from on our in-house AI agents to complex recommendation and search algorithms

We’re Looking for Someone Who Has / Is a…

• 2+ years of work experience of shipping 0 to 1 products in TypeScript, React, and NodeJS

• Comfort in ambiguous and unstructured startup work environments

• Generalist with a love of building across the stack

• Strong product sense, being able to be their own product manager and designer

Interview Process

Round 1

Phone Screen / Resume Interview (30 min)

The interviewer will go through the candidate's resume and ask detailed questions about their previous work experiences, challenges they encountered, and how they solved them.

Round 2

Technical Interview: Live Coding (1 hour)

The candidate will be given a real-world coding challenge to implement, based off OffDeal’s stack (ReactJS + NodeJS). During the interview, they will be able to access the internet, ChatGPT, and anything else they would use in a real work environment.

Round 3 (Onsite)

Technical Interview: Systems Design (45 min)

The candidate will be asked to architect a solution to a real challenge that OffDeal has encountered previously. This interview is entirely conceptual, and will not involve any coding.

Technical Interview: Product Sense (45 min)

The candidate will be shown designs of a real product and be asked to critique and improve it.

Culture Interview (Dinner)

The candidate will be invited to a casual dinner with the founders.
