Software Engineer, Routing

We achieve this by processing millions of rides, taking into account the latest traffic information and analyzing the preferences of drivers.
To strengthen our efforts, we are hiring a Software Engineer who will work on improving our routing engine, on building cloud-based services that can process millions of route requests per day and on creating workflows to process and analyze the data collected from our rides. For this we are looking for someone who has a strong background in software architecture and algorithms and understands at the same time how to build efficient cloud based services..
Our technology stack is based on the latest technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes and Apache Airflow. You will work with incredibly passionate and talented colleagues from software engineering, machine learning and data science on projects that delight millions of passengers and drivers.
Responsibilities:
- Drive high-impact projects and innovate new solutions to provide the best routing experience possible
- Build and deploy mission critical algorithms and services that can serve millions of requests per day (routing engine: C++, backend services: Go, Python)
- Analyze rides, understand customer pain points, prioritize and size feature requests and help design solutions based on our business needs
- Create a resilient and scalable infrastructure (cloud-based services and workflows) that enables rapid iteration
- Participate in our production on call rotation to maintain our services, ensuring their stability and reliability
Experience:
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Extensive experience in object-oriented programming (ideally C++ or Go)
- Hands-on experience with cloud computing using AWS, GCP or Azure
- Experience with big data processing / distributed data pipelines and tools such as Apache Airflow and Spark
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Interest in Mapping technologies

Lyft highly values having employees working in-office to foster a collaborative work environment and company culture. This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The expected base pay range for this position in the New York City area is $128,000 - $160,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
