Program coordinator - able
The FIT-ABLE office ensures equal access for students with disabilities in their curricular as well as co-curricular college experience that contributes to a holistic learning and development experience. Reporting to the Director of Disability Services, the Program Coordinator will focus on implementing accommodations and services for students with disabilities, help students develop study and time management skills, prepare students for career-related opportunities and provide technical assistance to faculty, tutors and staff in understanding different learning styles and universal design for learning. This position is funded by a federal grant which requires improved academic performance of students with disabilities as an indicator of success.
Responsibilities
- Assess student documentation and make recommendations for comprehensive services including classroom accommodations, tutoring, and the use of assistive technology.
- Provide executive functioning workshops that incorporate study skills and time management.
- Assist faculty and tutors in understanding students' learning styles through workshops and other methods by incorporating the theories of Universal Design for Learning.
- Provide career guidance to develop students' employment skills, including resume development and interviewing skills.
- Attend on campus events to inform students about the services offered including new student orientation and admissions events.
- Oversee tutorial arrangements during the academic year.
- Hold a minimum of three student meet ups each semester which provide a forum to disseminate college-wide information and gives an opportunity for students to meet and support each other in their programs.
- Incorporate five student seminars throughout the academic year which will focus on some aspect of job attainment or expanding awareness of specific types of opportunities available.
- Attend professional development events.
- Provide year end measurements and outcomes related to GPA's, student retention and student satisfaction.
- Provide an annual report at the end of each academic year that will review the programs successes and areas of improvement.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of direct experience working with students with physical, sensory, learning, psychological and/or other disabilities in a higher education or clinical setting.
- Experience making eligibility determinations, identifying corresponding accommodations, and working with vulnerable student populations.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of educational technologies as they relate to accessibility.
- Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act; sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act; Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act; the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines from W3C; and the impact of these regulations on higher education.
- Knowledge of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Salary
Salary: $42.74 per hour
Work Schedule
Days/Hours: M-F, up to 25 hours a week, in person; work schedule subject to change based on needs of the department.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The working conditions for this position will be primarily in an office space. The physical requirement for this position will require constant sitting, occasional standing, occasional bending, occasional walking, and occasionally lifting 10 lbs. or less.
