Summer Enrichment Teacher

The Summer Enrichment Program at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in the South Bronx

accepts applications to hire teachers for the summer camp of 2026.

Teachers help to run the nonsectarian six-week summer day camp serving Bronx children, ages 5-12.

Teachers will assist the Educational Director in achieving the following.

Summer Enrichment program goals:

• To create a camp experience for children that is culturally and socially enriching and

promotes a sense of caring for self, family, and the larger community.

• To teach children social skills needed to care for themselves, family, and the larger community.
• To promote camp spirit and group identity among the children we work with.
• To maintain a healthy and safe setting where the children enjoy themselves while

developing confident, creative, and active learners.

Responsibilities

● Serve as a positive role model for all students in the program

● Always supervise and ensure student safety.

● Participate in Local Training June 29 – July 3, 2026

● Program duration July 7 - August 14, 2025

● Provide leadership and supervision for the children in your group in all activities.

● Planning the group activities and learning experiences, and maintaining a daily/weekly

schedule with the support of the Educational Director

● Teaching topics with the approval of the Educational Director, of which you have general

knowledge, special knowledge, and interest.

● Actively participate in the morning meeting with children. Serve as a leader for morning

read-aloud, afternoon activities facilitators, and field trip chaperones.

● Supervise and collaborate with Summer Youth Employment staff (SYEP) and

community teen volunteers.

● Collaborate with other staff to establish and maintain a supportive and structured

environment for the students and volunteers entrusted to our care.

● Regularly sanitizing surfaces and areas after use.

● Report any issues or concerns regarding students in the Program to the Educational

Director.

● Qualifications

● Experience leading and teaching small and large groups of children.

● Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.

● Good planning, writing, and organizational skills.

● High energy level, good health, and enthusiasm for being with children.

● Teaching experience is desirable.

● Complete Safe Church Training with Safeguarding Online, CPR Training, supervision,

and mandated reporter training.

● Must have completed High school, be enrolled in college, and have plans to complete a

college degree.

● Ability to motivate others and work as part of an inter-generational team.

● Strong appreciation and understanding of individual cultural history and the willingness

to be open and respectful of all cultures.

● Solid commitment to the success and well-being of children.

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

● Exhibit pleasant, positive behavior and attitude, modeling a mature and professional

demeanor.
