Technician
Job Title: EEG Technician
Location: Syracuse, NY
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift Type: Day Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday)
Hours per Week: 42.5
Additional Notes: Every other weekend required. Immediate start preferred.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced EEG Technician to join our healthcare team for a 13-week assignment. The EEG Technician will be responsible for performing electroencephalographic tests to record patients’ brain wave characteristics, assisting physicians in diagnosing and treating neurological disorders, and ensuring accurate data collection and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
Perform EEG procedures on patients of all age groups according to physician orders and departmental protocols.
Prepare patients for testing by explaining procedures, measuring and marking head areas, and applying electrodes.
Monitor patients during EEGs to ensure proper recording and patient comfort.
Recognize and document any abnormal clinical and technical occurrences.
Ensure equipment functionality and perform routine maintenance or troubleshooting.
Maintain accurate and complete patient records and test results in the EMR system.
Follow infection control and safety standards at all times.
Assist in other neurodiagnostic procedures as needed, including evoked potentials or long-term monitoring.
Participate in quality control, continuing education, and departmental meetings.
Provide timely communication with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient status or test results.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 1 year of EEG or neurodiagnostic experience in an acute care or hospital setting.
Strong understanding of neurophysiology and EEG interpretation principles.
Proficient with EEG equipment, patient preparation, and electrode application techniques.
Ability to recognize technical and clinical artifacts and make corrections as needed.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Certifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited EEG or Neurodiagnostic Technology program preferred.
Certification: Registration or eligibility for R.EEG T. (ABRET) preferred.
CPR/BLS certification required.

Every other weekend required
