Let’s Connect!

Are you ready to embark on a new career endeavor?

Join The Doe Fund on our mission to break the cycles of homelessness, addiction, and criminal recidivism by providing holistic services, housing, and work opportunities to the underserved populations, including the formerly homeless and incarcerated, disconnected youth, veterans, and people living with AIDS. Our flagship transitional work program-- Ready, Willing & Able-- integrates paid work, occupational training, and holistic supportive services to facilitate an individual’s return to mainstream society. The Doe Fund has an annual operating budget of $80 million and a full-time staff of 400+.

We are seeking a Program Director for The Doe Fund's newest permanent supportive housing for homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS. The program is designed to provide long-term residential care and twenty-four-hour support services in a community environment that maximizes residents' independence while ensuring their physical and emotional security and well-being. This 98-unit residence will provide housing for 49 individuals referred by the New York City HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA), and the rest 49 units will be apartments for moderate-income households.

The Program Director will provide leadership and direction for both staff and residents. The successful candidate will have strong leadership, communication, and entrepreneurial skills along with an understanding of working with the HIV/AIDS population and relevant New York City and State agencies and funding sources.

We offer a competitive salary with comprehensive benefits including medical and dental coverage, paid participation in a retirement plan, sick and vacation leave, discount gym memberships, paid holidays, and more.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • You have earned a bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • You have at least 5 years of experience working with people who are homeless, living with HIV/AIDS, have substance abuse histories, and/or suffer from mental illness.
  • You have strong leadership skills, including outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • You demonstrate the ability to inspire and motivate staff and residents
  • You have excellent clinical and case management skills
  • You are sensitive to community issues and needs
  • You have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • You have strong ethical standards, confidentiality, and personal integrity
  • You are computer proficient (i.e., email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • You have excellent organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:

Major responsibilities of the Program Director include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the supportive housing program, including implementation of the fiscal, programmatic, and administrative procedures
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the administrative, clinical, building maintenance, and residential services of the program
  • Monitor program budget and contracts, and ensure that proper documentation is provided for all expenses and accounts
  • Oversee the intake process and ensure the program is operating at full capacity at all times
  • Provide 24-hour on-call crisis intervention when needed
  • Provide training to staff on harm reduction, substance abuse, and mental health
  • Ensure compliance with HASA and ESSHI contracts and performance standards
  • Responsible for the completion of various reports as required by HASA, the AIDS Institute, and The Doe Fund
  • Provide supervision to clinical staff and ensure that the staff are providing adequate, supportive case management services to the residents
  • Conduct performance evaluations on all supervisees
  • Facilitate staff meetings, clinical meetings, and resident community meetings
  • Conduct internal audits and quality assurance checks to ensure the timely and accurate completion and submission of all required documentation
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other agencies and community organizations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
