Facilities Coordinator
Frank Lloyd Wright’s Martin House is a non-profit organization with a primary mission to preserve, interpret, and promote the Martin House, a National Historic Landmark and a premier New York State Historic Site.
The Martin House seeks a part-time Facilities Coordinator to join our dynamic team. This position performs routine and preventative maintenance, and is alert for any operational or security problems. The Facilities Coordinator also helps maintain and secure an impeccable facility that is clean, safe, professional, and welcoming for all areas of the Martin House estate, including both historic and contemporary buildings and the exterior site.
This part-time position is 25 hours/week. Work schedule is Saturday and Sunday from 3 pm - 8:00 pm with alternate weekends and on as-needed basis depending on programmatic needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the setup & breakdown of facilities/grounds for meetings, education programs, special events, and rentals, etc.
- Lock and unlock assigned buildings: secure buildings when facilities are not in use; checking for unlocked doors/windows; turning off lights; reporting any suspicious/unauthorized activity.
- Inspect each building for integrity, vandalism, water leaks, ice, motors running, and miscellaneous items that reveal themselves on inspection.
- Complete work orders in a timely fashion using the UpKeep software system.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures.
- Member of the Martin House Security-Fire on-call list.
- Clean, dust, & wipe furniture; sweep, mop, and vacuum floors; vacuum & shampoo carpets; daily clean and restock of bathrooms and kitchens.
- Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; handle recycling materials; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers.
- Wash accessible interior and exterior art glass windows.
- Attend to emergencies as necessary.
- Fix equipment and items as needed.
- Perform related duties as required and/or needed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent vocational school
- More than one-year experience in custodial work
- Have essential physical and mental capabilities in the following: interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, following directions, comprehension, calculating, reading, writing, speaking, evaluating, mathematics & organization. Basic computer skills.
Skills:
- Safely use, maintain, and operate a golf cart.
- Safely use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools: auto scrubbers, high pressure washers, vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
- Ability to work in unfavorable weather conditions; perform snow removal activities by removing snow/ice from sidewalks, paths, and specific verandahs and balconies; apply snow melt to maintain walks and ensure safe conditions for all users.
Physical Requirements:
Considerable physical activity (more than 70% of the job). Requires heavy physical work. Must be able to lift and move heavy objects and work for extended periods of time. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions in accordance with Martin House policies and professional best practices.
Compensation:
This is an hourly non-exempt position scheduled to work 25 hours/week. Compensation starts at $18/hour, but may be adjusted based on experience.
