Senior Project Manager, Store Design Planning & Construction

MAIN PURPOSE

The Senior Project Manager in SDP & Construction will play a key role in the successful delivery of a major, high profile retail project, reporting directly to the Director.

This position acts as a central link between the design team, the construction activities, and the cost control function, ensuring full alignment across the design intent, cost schedule and execution.

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for maintaining accurate cost and schedule tracking and support strategic decision-making to ensure the project objectives are achieved on time and within budget.

The role requires strong technical and organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to manage complex interfaces between multiple disciplines and stakeholders.

Proven experience managing high-profile projects from the early design through construction and close out is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Play an active role in the management of a major flagship project currently in execution.
  • Manage the day-to-day execution of assigned project packages ensuring design and execution align with global brand standards and project objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with the internal design leadership, external architects, engineers, and general contractors to resolve technical issues and maintain progress.
  • Manage project interfaces, design coordination, and documentation flow among multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Participate in design and coordination meetings, representing the project management team and supporting decision making.
  • Coordinate with procurement on bid packages.
  • Manage tender reviews, and monitor supplier performance.
  • Maintain full visibility of project cost progression in coordination with the Cost Control team and quantity surveyor.
  • Partner with the quantity surveyor and Cost Control team to Track and report cost developments related to change orders, budget adjustments, and forecast updates.
  • Monitor and validate payment applications and invoice processing to ensure alignment with approved budgets and contract terms.
  • Support financial reviews and reporting, providing clear summaries of cost exposure and variance analysis to the Director
  • Manage day-to-day construction activities within assigned packages such as shop drawings reviews, quality control, and on-site issue resolution.
  • Oversee the project schedule in coordination with GC and rest of the team, ensuring that all critical activities remain on track
  • Monitor milestones progress and identify potential schedule risks or deviations early
  • Support the Director in leading schedule reviews with consultants, contractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure alignment between design deliverables, procurement timelines and construction sequencing.
  • Collaborate closely with the internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure consistency between cost, schedule, and project execution.
  • Provide regular progress and cost updates to project Director.
  • Contribute to strategic decision-making by providing accurate, data driven insights on project performance
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews and implement mitigation strategies under Director’s guidance
  • Manage punch lists, as-built documentation, commissioning activities and turnover procedures for assigned areas.
  • Lead project punch list and financial close out in partnership with the QS and Cost control team.
  • Frequent travel required – Up to 30%

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or Higher in Architecture or Interior Design with strong construction/project management focus.

Preferred / Additional Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in construction management , Project Management, Architecture is a plus
  • Professional certifications such as PMP or LEED AP are highly desirable.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 8-12 years of experience in project management within the luxury retail sector, ideally managing high profile flagship stores.
  • Experience in luxury residential or high-end commercial projects is a strong plus.
  • Proven ability to manage full-scope projects from preliminary design stages through design, construction, and final close out.
  • Strong track record in budget management, cost control, and schedule oversight on complex, high value projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, maintaining high-quality standards and brand consistency
  • Previous experience with flagship or high-profile projects involving international design teams and stakeholders is preferred.
  • In-house project management experience preferred.

Technical Skills/Abilities

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Excel, and Adobe Suite.
  • Strong project management and scheduling skills; ability to manage complex, multidisciplinary project timelines.
  • Deep understanding of luxury store design, planning, and construction methods, including finishes, millwork, facades, and MEP coordination.
  • Knowledge of building codes, permitting, and compliance requirements in the US and Canada.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong risk management and problem-solving abilities, including proactive issue identification and mitigation.
  • Familiarity with sustainability certifications and practices (LEED, WELL, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, negotiations and leadership skills.
  • Fluency in additional languages is a plus.

Expected salary range: $125,000-$145,000 plus incentives
