Boat Captain

Overview
Rochester Pedal Tours is looking to add a captain or two to our staff this summer on a part time basis. Our 18 person pontoon boat takes groups south on the Genesse river for 100 minute tours. In addition to captaining the boat, we are looking for someone who will provide top notch customer service. The captain and first mate split the tips 50/50. The better experience you give, the higher the tips and groups normally tip $6 per guest. We are looking for someone who wants to drive boats, meet people and make some good money while out on the water. We only go out when groups book the whole boat, we do not sell individually ticketed events. Tours operate 7 days per week with start times at 10am, noon, 2, 4 and 6pm is our latest start time. The boat goes in the water May 14th and we take it out in mid October. The majority of our tours are in the evening and weekends. It is fine if you need off a weekend here or a week for vacation there but we do need someone with good availability during our busy times

Duties

• Safely operate and navigate boats in various water conditions, ensuring passenger and crew safety at all times
• Manage and supervise the first mate, assigning tasks and overseeing that the group is having good clean fun
• Communicate pre tour instructions to groups before boarding
• Logging your tours in log book
• Qualifications
• Proven experience as a Boat Captain who is USCG certified
• Must be in a USCG drug consortium which includes an entry test. Because the coast guard is federal that includes marijuana
• Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey instructions and safety information
