Together with our community, the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan (MMJCCM) creates opportunities for people to connect, grow, and learn within an ever-changing Jewish landscape. The MMJCCM is looking for responsible, enthusiastic, motivated and highly skilled Care + Inclusion Team Members with a passion for inclusion, youth mental health and supporting children's social, emotional, and behavioral needs. They work in collaboration with the Camp Director and Division Director to ensure behavioral and support plans for individual children are properly carried out in partnership with service providers. The Care + Inclusion Team members work to create a warm, safe, and inclusive environment for young campers who are beginning their camp experience.
Day Camp @ The JCC is a joyful, Jewish summer camp for children ages 3-10 on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. Our staff come from diverse backgrounds and all share the same enthusiasm and motivation for working with children. Counselors are responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging camp experience, and serve as positive role models and team players for campers and staff. This position requires enthusiasm, patience, positivity, and a genuine love of and interest in working with children.
The Day Camp @ The JCC is in session for the following dates:
Leadership Orientation will take place during any 3 evenings between April 2026 and June 2026.
All Staff Orientation: June 9th, 2026 to June 15th, 2026 on a varying schedule.
Camp: June 16th, 2026 to August 14th, 2026 during the hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday-Friday.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work directly with campers who need extra support during various moments throughout the day (separation, transitions, etc.)
- Become familiar with campers you're supporting and have a strong understanding of their strengths, needs, and challenges
- Discuss camper involvement and concerns with directors
- Collaborate with counselors and leadership staff to develop and implement strategies to support campers
- Communicate regularly with families to keep them up to date on their child's wellbeing
- Communicate with external service providers when needed
- Ensure the safety and well-being of campers by enforcing rules and expectations of the camp
- Serve as a role model for campers and staff, including participating in all activities and using positive, strengths-based language
- Work in partnership with group leaders, counselors, specialists, and directors
- Participate in weekly all-staff meetings

REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in Social Work, Special Education, Psychology, or Early Childhood Education required; candidates currently enrolled in a relevant graduate program will also be considered.
Currently working in the field of Social Work, Special Education, Psychology, or Early Childhood Education.
Demonstrated interest in and experience working with neurodivergent children and/or children with social, emotional, behavioral, or mental health needs.
Prior experience in early childhood settings required.
Highly organized, with strong note-taking skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both multidisciplinary teams and families.
Exceptional engagement and relationship-building skills, with a high level of comfort interacting with children.
Previous experience working in a camp or similar recreational setting preferred.

COMPENSATION
This position offers a salary of $5,500-$6,300, commensurate with experience.
