Full Stack Software Engineer, React / Rails

We are recruiting for a Full Stack Software Engineer for a fast-growing consumer marketplace technology company in New York City.

This role is ideal for an engineer who likes building real products end-to-end, from frontend user experience to backend APIs, data models, analytics, and performance.

The work is tied directly to core customer journeys, including search, discovery, booking, account, and post-booking experiences.

What You Will Do

• Build full-stack features across high-traffic consumer marketplace workflows

• Develop frontend UI, backend APIs, data model changes, instrumentation, and rollout plans

• Work with React, Next.js, TypeScript, Ruby on Rails, Node.js, Postgres, and MongoDB

• Help improve API structure, backend logic, performance, reliability, and scalability

• Partner closely with Product, Design, Backend, Platform, and Data teams

• Improve testing, observability, dashboards, alerts, tracing, and operational readiness

• Help create reusable engineering patterns that make the team faster and more consistent

Must Have

• 4+ years of full stack software engineering experience

• Strong experience building production web applications

• React and modern JavaScript / TypeScript experience

• Backend development experience with Ruby on Rails, Node.js, or similar frameworks

• Experience building APIs and working with databases

• Comfortable owning features across frontend, backend, data, and analytics

• Strong product mindset and attention to user experience

• Strong engineering fundamentals, including code quality, testing, debugging, and reliability

Preferred

• Next.js experience

• Ruby on Rails experience

• AWS experience

• Postgres or MongoDB experience

• Datadog, RSpec, Playwright, or similar testing / observability tools

• CS degree or strong computer science fundamentals

• Experience with consumer products, marketplace platforms, SaaS products, or high-growth startups

Additional Details

• Location: New York, NY

• Schedule: onsite Monday through Thursday, remote Friday

• Compensation: $160K to $180K base salary plus equity
