Overview
An established and highly regarded NYC-based real estate law firm is seeking a mid-level Associate Attorney with 3–7 years of experience in Administrative Law or Landlord/Tenant Law. This role is ideal for an attorney with deep familiarity in rent regulation, real estate administrative agency matters, and a passion for litigation and client advisory work.
The firm offers a strong platform with a collaborative culture, marketing support, and long-term growth potential. This is a hybrid position based in midtown Manhattan, with in-office attendance required three days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Litigate matters before DHCR, NYC Commission on Human Rights, NYS Division on Human Rights, OATH, and NYS Supreme Courts.
- Defend against complex allegations, including rent overcharge, succession, harassment, and discrimination.
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, agency responses, Art. 78 proceedings, and due diligence memos.
- Advise clients on compliance with the Rent Stabilization Law, affordable housing regulations, and voucher programs.
- Participate in marketing efforts and assist in client relationship development.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school; admitted and in good standing with the New York State Bar.
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in Administrative Law, Rent Stabilization, or Landlord/Tenant litigation.
- Experience appearing before administrative agencies and state courts.
- Familiarity with fair housing laws, deregulation due to substantial rehabilitation, and NYC Human Rights Law is a plus.
- Strong drafting, research, and negotiation skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in marketing/client development.
- Book of business is welcome but not required.
