Heavy Equipment Operator

Are you an entry-level or experienced equipment operator who enjoys working outdoors and seeing the results of your work every day? Join our team and play a key role in landfill construction, site development, earthmoving, grading, and excavation projects. You'll operate a variety of heavy equipment while working alongside a skilled team in a safety-first environment with steady hours, overtime opportunities, and long-term career stability.

What You'll Do

✅ Operate dozers and excavators for landfill construction, cell development, grading, excavation, and earthmoving projects.

✅ Perform trenching, slope grading, compaction, and material movement according to engineering plans and project specifications.

✅ Maintain proper grades and compaction to meet environmental and landfill design requirements.

✅ Cross-train on additional heavy equipment, including:

• Front-end loaders.
• Tractors.
• Compactors.
• Single-axle dump trucks.

✅ Complete daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair needs.

✅ Follow all safety policies, PPE requirements, and site-specific procedures.

✅ Work overtime and occasional Saturdays as needed.

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 1+ year of experience operating equipment such as:
  • Tractors.
  • Front-end loaders.
  • Compactors.
  • Single-axle dump trucks.
  • Farm or agricultural equipment.
• Strong understanding of excavation, grading, and earthmoving practices.
• Commitment to workplace safety.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to sit and operate equipment for extended periods.

Bonus Qualifications

⭐ Experience in:

• Landfill construction.
• Road construction.
• Environmental remediation.
• Earthworks and site development.

⭐ Heavy equipment certification (preferred but not required).

⭐ Experience operating multiple equipment types and adapting to changing job site needs.

⭐ Strong attention to detail and precision grading skills.

Schedule

Monday–Friday

• Start: 6:00 AM – 6:30 AM.
• End: 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM.

Optional Saturdays

• Approximately 6:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

⏰ Average 10–15 hours of overtime per week .

Work Environment

This is a 100% outdoor position on active landfill and construction sites. You'll work year-round in varying weather conditions while operating heavy equipment on uneven terrain. The role is physically active, safety-focused, and ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work and being part of a hardworking team.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plattsburgh, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
