EMT/Field Training Officer - Saturday Day Shift

We are hiring a Field Training Officer for the Saturday day shift. If you are determined to be the best, this part-time position may be for you. DBEMS is looking for highly skilled, precision-focused, and compassionate Field Training Officer to help new EMTs be ready to excel on an ambulance crew.

DELMAR-BETHLEHEM EMS FIELD TRAINING OFFICER (FTO) – SATURDAYS 0600 to 1800

Responsibilities:

• Train new members, EMT students, EMT Crew Chief trainees, and Driver Trainees on scheduled shifts.
• Provide emergency medical care as an EMT or AEMT in accordance with NYS DOH, REMO, and DBEMS standards of care, protocols, policy statements and SOGs.
• Document training in accordance with the DBEMS Field Training Program.
• Participate in DBEMS Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement.
• Other training related duties, as requested.

Requirements:

• NYS EMT certification and a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR card. Must continuously maintain NYS EMT & CPR certification throughout employment. AEMTs and EMT-Ps are also welcome.
• Valid NYS driver’s license with an operating record acceptable to DBEMS.
• Have at least two years of EMT – Crew Chief and Emergency Vehicle Operations experience with an ambulance service in New York State.
• Be “Crew Chief” ready and be able to quickly assume duty as a Crew Chief in charge on an ambulance crew.
• Meet all the requirements to be a driver for DBEMS and complete either CEVO or EVOC training.
• Comply with all DBEMS Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs).
• Submit Physical Attestation Form signed by a license primary health care provider.

Expectations:

Help volunteer trainees develop Crew Chief skills by teaching and setting an exceptional example through:

• Meticulous compliance with equipment inspection, readiness, and resupply procedures
• Delivering high-quality and protocol-driven care
• Collaboration with ambulance crew colleagues and Albany County Paramedics
• Kind, compassionate, and respectful interactions with patients, family, other responders, and hospital personnel
• Safe workplace practices and vehicle operations
• Compliance with documentation requirements and the completion of high-quality E-PCRs
• Being ready for duty at the beginning of scheduled shifts.
• Completing and locking all e-PCRs and associated paperwork before departing at the end of shift.
• Non-emergency requests for time off from regularly scheduled shifts submitted one month in advance.

Schedule :

• Regular Schedule of Saturday from 0600 to 1800.
• Must be available for four to six paid orientation sessions between the hours of 1800 and 0000.

Starting Wage:

• $21.50 per hour, with annual salary consideration in January of each subsequent year, with bi-weekly payroll
