Camp Health Director – Young Judaea Sprout Brooklyn

Sprout Brooklyn Day Camp is a Young Judaea Hebrew dual-language summer program serving children entering Pre-K through 5th grade in Red Hook, Brooklyn. We are looking for a qualified Health Director to join our staff this coming summer.

About the Position

The Health Director is Sprout Brooklyn's primary medical authority on-site, responsible for implementing and upholding all health and safety procedures throughout the camp season. This is not a behind-the-desk role — we're looking for someone who wants to be woven into the fabric of daily camp life while ensuring every camper and staff member is safe and well cared for.

Eligible candidates must hold one of the following: active licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or current certification in both Advanced First Aid and CPR Pro from an approved provider.

What the Job Involves

Your work begins before camp opens. You'll be reviewing camper medical histories and completing pre-season health screenings to ensure everyone is ready for a safe summer. Once the season is in full swing, you'll treat sick or injured campers, manage the medical log, and complete all required incident documentation. When health issues, injuries, or accidents occur, you'll respond quickly and follow up with families directly by phone or email. You'll attend staff and senior staff meetings, show up for camp-wide events including opening and closing assemblies, and serve as a key member of the emergency crisis management team.

Minimum Requirements

• Age 21 or older
• Active certifications in Advanced First Aid and CPR Pro
• Background working with children between the ages of 3 and 10

Dates & Hours

Staff training is required and takes place June 14–18. The camp season runs Monday through Friday from June 22 through August 14. Daily hours are 8:30am to 4:15pm. This is an in-person position.

Pay: $6,000.00 - $7,000.00 per year
