Position Summary
Hamilton Madison House City Hall Older Adult Center is one of the largest older adult centers in New York City, providing nutritious meals and vital services and activities to older adults who come from many different areas of NYC. The CHOAC is a model for providing high quality, high volume, culturally and linguistically appropriate services and programs and has a high public profile and visibility. The Assistant Director plays an integral role in assisting the Program Director in the daily operations of the program. This position reports to the Director of CHOAC.
Responsibilities :
- Assist Director with daily operations & serve as Acting Director in Director’s absence, confirming continuity in operations/decision -making/program delivery
- Assist in managing physical facility of City Hall Older Adult Center (“CHOAC”) & act as liaison to vendors/contractors/government, including DFTA/DOHMH/DCAS/HPD
- Provide social services, including entitlement counseling/information/referral assistance to meet contract goals
- Oversee daily operations of kitchen/meal service program & supervise kitchen/custodial staff work to maintain high standards of food safety/service quality
- Collaborate with cooks/Director on menu preparation & oversee all aspects of food service to secure nutritional and operational excellence
- Coordinate CHOAC’s satellites, supervise Title V program/interns/Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) students
- Represent CHOAC/Director by attending community meetings/events.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Social Work
- In-depth knowledge of served population (i.e., older adults), aging-related issues/policies & Motivational Interviewing (MI) or other evidence-based & client-centered counseling approaches
- Strong understanding of social welfare systems & policies
- Familiar with social services/nonprofit organizations operating including their programs/resources in NYC
- Excellent interpersonal, oral/written communication, organizational & management skills
Compensation : $62,662.60/year
Hours : 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm,
