PRIMARY FUNCTION/PURPOSE:
The Safety Monitor will be directly responsible for all activities in the physical plant and ensuring civility amongst residents, visitors, and staff. He/she controls access to the facility twenty-four hours a day and will report any hazardous conditions within the facility and grounds to the Safety Supervisor on duty.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures that the Safety Supervisors orders of the shift are followed.
- Performs and ensures that all Detex patrols are completed and conducts the patrols on a half hour basis.
- Communicates all pertinent information to the Safety Supervisor.
- Ensures that all entries are made and accurate in the security desk logbook.
- Obtain client signatures to complete Daily Attendance Roster.
- Maintains a safe and secure environment for the residents, staff, and visitors.
- Must be certified in First Aid and CPR.
- Must be able to rotate shifts at the Director of Operations discretion and/or as needs of the business requires.
- Utilizing the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) - Client Assistance and Re-housing Enterprise System (CARES) complete incident reports as needed.
- Adhere to the Agency dress code for Safety personnel and maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance at all times.
- Drive the facility van when required.
- Must maintain valid NYS Security License.
- Must be available for overtime when business needs are required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years’ experience in commercial and/or residential security services.
- Must have an active New York State Security Guard License.
- Good communication/writing skills, experience working with families / homeless population.
- Must meet all the requirements regarding the Security Guard Act of 1992.
- Must obtain a Fire Guard (F02) License.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Driver’s License preferred.

- May be required to work long hours and a varied schedule to meet job demands and deadlines.
- Periodically may bend, lift, and carry objects weighing up to seventy-five pounds.
