Job Description

About this job

The Financial Services Data as a Service (DaaS) Research Team delivers support and insights related to the raw datasets utilized by the investing community. Our products and services are designed for consumption by the Asset Management industry, which includes Hedge Funds, Mutual Funds, Pension Funds, Quantitative Funds, and Private Equity. We’re a team of data-driven analysts who love turning data into actionable insights and clearly communicating those insights to our sophisticated investing clientele.

As Associate Director, Due Diligence Insights & Analysis, you will spearhead analyses and presentations using NIQ’s full suite of US-based and global datasets and analytical models. You will partner with data scientists, analytical experts and thought leaders across the organization to inform strategic recommendations on behalf of Private Equity clients within our growing Due Diligence Consulting practice.

As an ideal candidate for this role, you are a powerful communicator and effective project leader with strong analytical and storytelling skills, deep expertise leveraging point-of-sale and consumer data to provide holistic assessments on industries, categories and brands, and comfortable engaging multiple stakeholders at executive or c-suite level. You understand the language of Private Equity and the nuances of the due diligence process, and you anticipate and tackle client questions before they arise.

You are naturally curious, always building on your understanding of market and consumer trends and their implications to the world of Private Equity and Financial Services clients in general. As a thought leader, you’re comfortable working with a wide range of datasets as a part of your ‘toolkit,’ and you understand the power of cultivating a robust and diverse internal network to draw from as consultative partners. You also work well in a collaborative and dynamic environment, as part of NIQ’s Financial Services team.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage your knowledge of the marketplace, analytical expertise and storytelling skills to spearhead due diligence projects from outline to final delivery stage.
  • Understand drivers of company performance and how to derive them using various NIQ datasets and models. Articulate the relevant implications of your findings to key external stakeholders and support your fact-based assumptions with confidence.
  • Develop strong relationships with Private Equity clients to ensure you understand their specific needs and priorities as part of their due diligence considerations.
  • Support adoption and usage of raw datasets among prospects and current clients by showing their value through your insights and analytical point-of-view, providing deep dives and consultative expertise as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Advanced degree in a quantitative subject such as Statistics, Engineering, Economics, or Finance or fields that employ rigorous data analysis preferred. A Masters in Business Administration or Financial Mathematics is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Consulting, Analytics, or Brand Strategy
  • Experience working with Private Equity and/or Brand Corp Dev teams preferred
  • Strong applied statistics skills preferred
  • Proficiency with Python, R, SAS or MATLAB or SQL/relational databases is a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong verbal, presentation, and written skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Desire to learn and continually upgrade skills
  • Disposition to simplify research, work processes, and complex statistical concepts
  • Quantitative aptitude with proven data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely in oral and written form
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment

US Benefits

  • Comprehensive healthcare plan (medical, Rx, dental, and vision).
  • Flexible spending accounts and a Health Savings Account (including company contributions).
  • Life and AD&D insurance.
