Staff/Tech Lead Manager - Uber Eats App Experience
About the Role:
The Inspire org at Uber Eats is looking for a seasoned Staff Tech Lead Manager to supercharge the next 5 years of Uber Eats strategy and make our marketplace a home for discovery and inspiration for our users. You will have the opportunity to play a large role in setting the product and technical direction of our App Experience team, balancing hyper-fast 0-1 product development with extremely mature and high-traffic surfaces like our home feed and search. You will partner with product engineers, ML and AI engineers, and cross-functional partners to create new immersive experiences that will help our customers discover new ways of interacting with our platform that are new for the industry. We are looking to make a step-function change to how we unlock a best-in-class experience for our millions of Uber Eats users.
What the Candidate Will Do:
- Serve as a technical leader on our most demanding, cross-functional projects.
- Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
- Mentor and grow other eng leaders on the team and in the org
- Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.
- Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and the community on advanced technical issues and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members
- Exert technical influence over the App Experience team, increasing the team's productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience. You are a visionary leader, builder and an operator.
- Balance technical leadership and savvy with strong business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of software engineering experience
- Strong product-focused engineer with past consumer product expertise
- Experience leading teams of other product-minded engineers, while also contributing to the roadmap across IC dimensions
- Mastery of object-oriented design, data structures, distributed systems, and algorithms
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep hands-on technical expertise in at least one major technical area: large scale full stack development, building complex distributed systems, launching complex UX overhauls
- Experience working with personalization and recommendation systems to craft rich, cohort-based experiences for users
- Domain knowledge of marketplace systems
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and team bar-raising skills
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$223,000 per year - USD$248,000 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$223,000 per year - USD$248,000 per year.
For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$223,000 per year - USD$248,000 per year.
For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits. More details can be found at the following link .
