Mechanical Engineer

Compensation Range: $80,300 - $100,100
Job Purpose
As a Mechanical Engineer at Bren-Tronics, part of EnerSys and a manufacturer of advanced portable power solutions, you will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment developing sophisticated batteries, battery chargers, and related products. You will work within the Engineering Development group on multidisciplinary teams to meet committed timelines, supporting multiple projects across various stages of development and creating multiple design concepts using appropriate manufacturing techniques, materials, processes, and tolerances.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Collaborate on the mechanical development of batteries, chargers, inverters and other related products.
• Analyze design for performance of the device during rigorous use in extreme conditions.
• Proficient with SolidWorks 3D CAD to develop assembly layouts and development of components including injection molded parts, contacts, printed circuit boards, sheet metal parts and other fabricated and purchased components.
• Engage and conduct design reviews for mechanical engineering projects.
• Monitor and track projects on the progress of engineering projects and maintain a personal action item list.
• Facilitate the entire lifecycle of the prototype and the early stages of new product build while being actively involved throughout the process.
• Partner, select and coordinate with suppliers to obtain quotes, build prototype component, implement product transition into production, and address technical challenges with subcontracted products.
• Conduct and coordinate first article testing of new products, troubleshoot any test results and provide detailed reports on results.
• Launch drawings and generate Engineering Change Orders for new and legacy products through formal document control system.
• Evaluate inspection reports on incoming components for conformance to design requirements. Make corrective action recommendations for non-conforming items.
• Support proposal efforts by analyzing customer requirements and developing conceptual layouts, drawings and budget projections.
• Analyze current products for performance and assess improvements in product effectiveness.
• Resolve challenges with legacy products upon completion of assembly and at suppliers.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical degree.
• Minimum of 4 + years hands on experience developing, designing of electronic products.
• Experience in injection molding of plastic components.
• Battery packaging experience, engineering production industry.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and processes.
• Proficiency in Solid Work 3D CAD for modeling, drafting and analysis.
• Demonstrated strong teamwork with various organizations both internal and external.
• Effective communication skills with cross functional teams.
• Strong multi-tasking, attention to detail, written and verbal.
• Ability to accurately and thoroughly document processes, procedures, and training documents.
• General knowledge of control systems, electrical testing, and troubleshooting.
• Awareness of project need and capability to work in a project environment with deadlines.
